an invitation to Kingdom living Loving God, Loving Others from the Gospel of Luke Join us as we journey through Luke for most of 2007. Why Luke? Luke will help us to share the story of Jesus—to enter into that story more fully ourselves so that we more faithfully express the reign of God among our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Luke’s themes have powerful implications for us as we seek to be a missional congregation. Luke’s salvation is rich and multi-faceted, embracing and transforming the whole of life. In Luke we are called to live in the power of the Holy Spirit, to pray, to serve the poor, to welcome the outcast. Will you receive this invitation to Kingdom living?
Life on the Vine: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit in Christian Community. Our new series utilizes Phil Kenneson’s book by the same title. We will look at each fruit in its context (Gal. 5:22-23) and how key traits of late Modern Western culture inhibit the development and ripening of each fruit. ABF discussion guides will be handed out on the Sunday of the lesson. Group discussion and application, rather than lecture is the emphasis. Sermons will exhort us to live the fruit of the spirit in practical ways the following week. The titles alone compel us to cultivate: Love in the Midst of Market Style Exchanges, Joy in the Midst of Manufactured Desire, Peace in the Midst of Fragmentation, Patience in the Midst of Productivity, Kindness in the Midst of Self-Sufficiency, Goodness in the Midst of Self-Help, Faithfulness in the Midst of Impermanence, Gentleness in the Midst of Aggression, Self-Control in the Midst of Addiction.
